FAQs
I have always wanted to drive a tractor trailer. How do I get started?
The first thing you need is a class 1 driving license, and one of the best ways to obtain that is through a school with a reputable professional class 1 driving program. Some of the things you should consider when selecting a class 1 driving school include:
- the quality of facilities and equipment
- the length of the program
- how much classroom time, in cab time, and actual drive time are included
- the placement and employment rates of graduates
You can contact the Academy at any time and our staff will discuss your options with you.
What are my chances of getting a job after taking a program such as yours?
First of all, we should be clear that – under the law – no Private Vocation Institution in Manitoba may guarantee a student or prospective student employment. This law is for the protection of the student. At the same time, there is a severe shortage of Class 1 drivers across Canada. Employment opportunities exist for entry level drivers with a variety of companies.
I hear that class 1 drivers make a lot of money. Will I be able to make lots of cash once I get my license?
In short, no probably not at first. Like many other careers and jobs, the earnings potential increases once you gain some experience. The drivers that are making the best money usually have several years of experience. That having been said, there is no reason that you cannot earn a decent living and increase your earnings as you gain experience.
